The History of Flaherty's General Store and the expansion of FlahertyZon
How it All Started
Flaherty's General Store was started by a man with a passion for teaching. It was started by none other than Mr. Tyler Flaherty himself. Mr. Flaherty has always had a knack for teaching, which is easy to see. But what many do NOT know is that Mr. Flaherty also has always had a dream of one day owning and running his very own business. What started as a fun idea that Mr. Flaherty thought up on the night of November 22nd, 2020, (mention the code NOV222020 on November 22nd to unlock an EXCLUSIVE FLASH DEAL) led to the decision-making of possible locations for the store.
How it All Grew
Mr. Flaherty worked countless hours setting up the General Store. He knew that in order for it to really make an impact, and be something that is remembered and talked about for years to come, it would have to be catchy. That is when he thought up the song. You know it by now, and it has been listened to by thousands: "You can find snacks and soooo much more, at FLAHERTY'S GENERAL STORE," is a tune that is hummed throughout everyone's minds day in and day out. Mr. Flaherty (with help from his wife Mrs. Megan Flaherty) worked around the clock setting up the General Store. This all led to the eventual Grand Opening of the store on November 30th. What followed, was simply incredible! The first day of business brought crowds of sixth graders. The demand was simply through the roof. Due to the incredible following this store gained, it was clear. A physical location wasn't going to be enough to meet the demands of impulsive 6th-grade customers, who rely on sugar to keep them moving.
Receiving the Prestigous "Best Sixth Grade General Store in America" Award
Flaherty's General Store was recently awarded the "Best Sixth Grade General Store in America" award. This award compiled a list of nearly 3,000 nominations and votes from Sixth Graders across the United States. When told about winning the award, Mr. Flaherty was heard saying "While we are in awe of the receiving of this award, we are far from done! Keep your eyes peeled online for whats to come next!" Little did everyone know, this was a hint to the future of the Flaherty's General Store!
The Creation of FlahertyZon
Following the incredible following that Flaherty's General Store had gained, one thing quickly became clear to Mr. Flaherty. They were not able to meet the demand of the insane amount of customers. That's when Mr. Flaherty decided to scale up and continue down his business-running adventure. Mr. Flaherty was starting an online store.
Mr. Flaherty's homeroom class of 2021-22 was the one that helped him decide on the name (and logo) that is known and loved by thousands across the United States today. There were many parts of the planning process: what's the name of the online shop going to be? What's the logo going to look like? How is the online store going to function? After an intense designing process (done by the logo connoisseur Mr. Flaherty himself), he came up with a group of 6 different logo designs and name ideas. The Homeroom class voted the first time, for their Top 3 favorites. Then they were presented with the 3 finalists and asked to vote for their favorite one. What they decided on was the name FlahertyZon, with the simple and elegant "F" and "Z" with the bright Kansas City Chiefs red as the color.
With opening an online store, comes the need for a warehouse to house more items so that they can have more stock. In order to scale up, their first step was to make a warehouse (because the last thing that you want is an online store that is constantly out of items). They built a brand new 200,000-square-foot warehouse in North Kansas City. Once they did that, the next step was hiring the workforce. The FlahertyZon workers had to be hard-working, honest individuals that Mr. Flaherty could count on to get stuff done and get it done in a timely manner.
